Deleting a message

Note: You must have assigned the Comment - Manage permission as an Automation Cloud™ user, or the Edit messages permission as a legacy user, to delete messages in the user interface.

There may be cases where messages have been uploaded to sources that you might not want in the platform. This scenario could happen because:

  • The message has been corrupted in some way, and is unusable.
  • The message contains sensitive information that should not be shared.
  • The message adds no value to the dataset.

Regardless of the reason, you can delete messages from a source in the user interface through a dataset containing that source. This functionality is also available through the API. For more details, check Deleting comments.

Note:

Deleting a message from a source within one dataset will remove that message from any other dataset containing that source. The message could act as training data in another dataset. Therefore, removing the message would impact the model in that dataset.

If a message in a source does not add value for your use case, make sure that it does not provide value for other datasets before deleting it. The Sources page gives an indication of other datasets that are connected to a particular source.

To delete a message, apply the following steps:
  1. Navigate to the Explore tab.
  2. Select the trash icon on the message you want to delete.
Note: This button is displayed only if you have assigned the Comment - Manage permission as an Automation Cloud™ user, or the Edit messages permission as a legacy user.
  3. Select Delete in the warning window that appears.
