Creating or deleting a data source in the GUI
Note: You need to have assigned the Source - Manage permission as an
Automation Cloud user, or the Sources Admin permission as a legacy user to create
or delete a data source. In addition, these permissions allows you to create a new
source when you create a new dataset.
When you create a source in the GUI, an empty source with defined properties is set up. Then, you can upload data to it through the API. For more details, check the API docs.
Alternatively, you can create a source through the API. This method may be more suitable for non-technical users to define their source properties before a technical user uploads the data.
- Navigate to the Administrator page, and select the Sources tab.
- Select the New source button.
- Fill in the required source properties, which include:
- Source project
- Source name
- Source title
- Source description
- Sensitive propertiesNote: Requires the Source - ReadSensitive permission for Automation Cloud users, or the View sensitive data permission for legacy users to view sensitive data.
- Language
- TranslationNote: Requires the Source - Manage permissions for Automation Cloud users, or the Create translated sources permission for legacy users.
- Select Create source.
