Uninstalling a solution

Uninstall a solution deployment from an Orchestrator tenant in Automation Cloud and understand what resources are removed.

You can remove a solution deployment from a tenant by uninstalling it in an automated manner. The uninstall operation removes from the system the solution folders and all the resources included in it that were created as part of the deployment. However, uninstalling a solution does not delete entities, choice sets, and webhooks. Note that you cannot undo the uninstall operation.

Uninstall a solution

To uninstall a solution, take the following steps:

  1. Select the Solutions tab at tenant level.
  2. In the Deployments tab, find the solution you want to uninstall, select the three-dot menu corresponding to it, then choose Uninstall.
  3. Enter the name of the solution deployment in the confirmation dialog, then select Uninstall.

Result

The solution deployment is removed from the tenant. The associated solution folders and all resources created as part of the deployment are deleted.

Uninstall validation

When the uninstall page opens, the system checks whether the uninstall can go through before it starts. The check most often fails because jobs that belong to the solution are still running.

  • If nothing prevents the uninstall, it runs without any additional step.
  • If the check fails, the uninstall does not start. No failed entry is added to the deployment history, because nothing was removed.

Force uninstall a solution

Force uninstall is available when the uninstall validation fails because the deployment contains jobs that are not in a final state (Pending, Running, Suspended, Resumed, Stopping, or Terminating).

When the validation fails, the Uninstall validation failed screen explains what prevents the uninstall and offers two options:

OptionWhat it does
Force UninstallContinues the uninstall immediately, without a separate confirmation dialog.
View JobsOpens the Jobs page for the deployment's folder in Orchestrator, where you can stop the unfinished jobs.
Warning:

Force uninstall does not stop the unfinished jobs. They keep running and consuming resources until you stop them, and you cannot undo a force uninstall.

To force the uninstall of a solution, take the following steps:

  1. Select the Solutions tab at tenant level.
  2. In the Deployments tab, find the solution you want to uninstall, select the three-dot menu corresponding to it, then choose Uninstall.
  3. Enter the name of the solution deployment in the confirmation dialog, then select Uninstall.
  4. On the Uninstall validation failed screen, select Force Uninstall.

To stop the jobs first, select View Jobs instead, stop the unfinished jobs, then uninstall the solution again.

Result

The uninstall continues and the system removes the deployment and its associated resources. The unfinished jobs are not stopped.

If the uninstall cannot go through for a reason that force uninstall does not resolve, an error message appears and you return to the Deployments tab.
