Navigating the Deployments sidebar

Deployments sidebar and management options for inspecting and acting on solution deployments in Automation Cloud.

Overview

The Deployments sidebar provides a contextual view of a solution's deployment directly from the Deployments tab. It lets you inspect various details of a deployment, as well as manage it to ensure your solution is working properly.

The sidebar title shows the deployment name in the format Deployment: [name]. Below it, you can see the folder path and the author of the deployment. Furthermore, you can see the package version with a Latest badge if the installed version is the most recently published one, and the package author.

The body of the sidebar shows the most recent operation (for example, Edit configuration or Install), its progress through the workflow stages, the solution folder path (clickable, to navigate to the folder in Orchestrator), and the operation outcome with elapsed time.

The sidebar provides the following tabs: Resources, History, and Jobs.

Expanding the Deployments sidebar

To expand the Deployments sidebar:

  1. Navigate to Orchestrator > Solutions.
  2. Select the Deployments tab.
  3. From the list, select a solution deployment.

Result: The Deployments sidebar opens on the right side of the screen and remains in context while you browse deployment information.

Tip:

If your deployment is successfully installed and activated, you can select Deployment details from the Deployment logs, and navigate directly to the Deployments sidebar.

Managing a deployment from the sidebar

The actions available in the sidebar depend on the state of the deployment.

Deployment stateAvailable actions
Active (no pending draft)Uninstall, Edit, Start job. The card menu (⋮) has Go to folder, View logs, Change version, Edit configuration, and Uninstall.
Draft row selectedDelete draft, Continue editing. The same two actions are in the card menu. If an installed deployment exists, a second card shows Go to folder, Start job, and a menu with Go to folder and View logs.
Inactive (Ready to activate)Activate deployment (primary), Go to folder, Edit, Uninstall
Inactive (Needs setup to activate)Set up activation (primary), Go to folder, Edit, Uninstall
Inactive (uninstalled, last operation Uninstall)Delete. The menu has View logs and Delete.

Active deployment

The sidebar for an active deployment (no pending draft) shows the Uninstall, Edit, and Start job actions. Select the clickable folder path at the top of the sidebar, or Go to folder in the card menu, to open the solution folder in Orchestrator.

When a newer package version exists, the card shows a New version available chip, and the primary button is Change version instead of Start job.

Draft deployment

When you select a Draft row, the sidebar reflects the pending operation and shows two cards. The Draft card has Delete draft and Continue editing, and a menu with the same two actions. The installed-deployment card has Go to folder and Start job, and a menu with Go to folder and View logs.

On the Resources tab, you can view a list of all components included in your solution, including processes, connections, triggers, assets, and storage buckets. Resources are grouped by type with a count, for example Processes 3. Use Search resource by name to find a specific resource.

For each deployment, you can view details regarding its history. The history is a list of cards, one for each operation. Each card shows:

  • The operation, such as Install, Change version, or Edit configuration.
  • The package version.
  • The time since the operation ran.
  • The icons for the stages of the operation.
  • A menu with View logs.

The Jobs tab displays the jobs associated with the selected deployment. Only the top 50 jobs started in the last 24 hours are shown; if no jobs exist in that period, a message is displayed instead.

Selecting a job opens a Job Details sidepanel. Selecting Explore all opens the jobs page in Orchestrator.

Note:

The Jobs tab is available only for deployments with an associated Orchestrator folder. Uninstalled deployments do not show the Jobs tab.
