General fields
A final piece of data that is extracted using Communications Mining is the General field. General fields are data points within
the communication which are not associated with any label, for example a policy number. When no extraction has been found
and you need to learn something about your communication, you fall back to general fields. For example, you may have an
AccountNumber
general field trained, and when you get a communication with no label extractions predicted, you still might look for the
AccountNumber
so that your automation can send it to the right team to process manually.
Note: In most cases, all the data you need should be within an extraction. If you find yourself having to refer to both an extraction
field and a general field, it might indicate that you need to address an issue with your taxonomy.
