IXP overview guide

Governance

This section explains on how to create and deploy Automation Ops policies to manage and govern the IXP service. The policies allow organizations to define how traffic to external Large Language Models (LLMs) is controlled through the AI Trust Layer. This results in a responsible and secure use of AI capabilities.

Governance through Automation Ops policies applies to the entire IXP service, with flexible configuration options at the user, group, and tenant level, allowing fine-grained control.

Note: For the IXP capability, Unstructured and complex documents, you can only apply policies at tenant level for run-time prediction requests.

Creating a policy for IXP

To create an Automation Ops policy for IXP, proceed as follows:
  1. Access Automation Ops from Automaton Cloud.
  2. Navigate to Governance, and then Policies.
  3. Select Add Product Policy, which will open a side panel. Configure the options as follows:
    • Name - Enter a name for your policy.
    • Product - Select the AI Trust Layer product from the list.
    • Select Add, which will redirect you to the configuration page. Configure the options as follows:
      • Policy Name - Filled in by default, with the name you previously entered.
      • Priority - The order that decides which policy will apply if the user is set to receive more than one.
      • Description - Optionally, enter a description for your policy.
      • In the Product Toggles tab, the Enable IXP option is set to Yes by default. If you set it to No, it blocks all outbound traffic to external LLMs.
Disabling calls to third-party AI models deactivates all design-time and run-time features in the IXP capability, Unstructured and complex documents, and design-time GenAI features and certain generative extraction models in the IXP capability, Communications Mining.
Note: This policy applies only at the tenant level.
      • Continue with configuring the options in the Feature Toggles and Models tabs.
  4. Select Save.
Note: You need to deploy policies before these take effect.
