Process Mining

Managing file storage

Manage table data enables you to preview, download, and delete data files directly from the Azure Blob storage. This can be useful, for example, when you run into issues with data uploading and you need to correct mistakes in the data.

In the Manage table data window, you can see the history of uploaded raw data files for a table and analyze the file contents. You can upload a single data file directly to the Azure Blob storage and trigger a data run, without having to upload all the data for the process app. The option to delete all the files and folders for the process app enables you to fix extraction issues without having to recreate the process app.

Opening the file storage

Attention: If you open the Manage table data page for an existing app that was created before the Manage file storage feature was available, you must upload new data for the app to see the input files in the Manage table data page.

Opening the file storage from Data transformations

You can open the file storage directly from Data transformations.

Follow these steps to open the Manage table data page:

  1. In the Input section, go to the Tables folder, and locate the file you want to open in Manage table data.
  2. Open the More actions menu and select Manage file storage.

Opening the file storage for a published process app

You can open the file storage for published process app from the Process apps tab in the Process Mining portal.

Follow these steps to open the Manage table data page for a published process app:

  1. Locate the card of the process app for which you want to manage the table data.
  2. Open the More actions menu and select Manage file storage.

The Manage table data page is displayed, showing the raw data files that are uploaded for the selected table.

By default, the following columns are displayed showing the properties for each file:

ColumnDescription
File nameThe name of the source file.
File sizeThe size of the file, indicating how much data the file contains.
Folder pathThe location of the file within the Blob storage.
Last modifiedThe date and time at which the file was uploaded or last modified.

Displaying the raw data files for other tables

The Manage file storage page displays the raw data files for a selected table. You can select a different table from the table selector to view and manage the raw data file for another table.

Closing the file storage

Select Data transformations in the breadcrumb path to leave the file storage manager and return to Data transformations. The Manage file storage page is closed.

Attention:

When you uploaded a file or deleted one or more files, you must select Load changes. The Tables page in Data transformations is displayed, to map and configure the tables and fields for your input data. Refer to Managing input data for more information.

Viewing the contents of a raw data file

Using the Preview option, you can have a quick look at the contents of the file without having to open the file in an external program.

Follow these steps to view the contents of a table file:

  1. Locate the file for which you want to view the contents.

  2. Select the Preview file icon in the actions column for the file.

The Preview window is displayed, showing the contents of the raw data files, up to a maximum of 1000 rows.

Downloading files from the file storage

Downloading a single file

You can download a single file from the file storage to your computer. This can be helpful, for example, if you want to correct any mistakes in the file. After you make the necessary corrections, you can then re-upload the file.

Follow these steps to download a single file.

  1. Locate the file you want to download.

  2. Select the Download file icon in the actions column for the file.

The file is directly downloaded to your computer.

Uploading a raw data file

Note:

If you want to upload multiple files related to different tables, you should use the Add files option in Data transformations or the Upload files option in Manage input data settings.

You can upload a raw data file for a table from your computer to the file storage. This can be helpful, for example, after you corrected any mistakes in the file.

Follow these steps to upload a file.

  1. Select the Upload button in the header bar of the Manage file storage page.

  2. Select the file you want to upload from your computer.

  3. Select Upload.

The file is directly uploaded to the file storage.

Deleting files from the file storage

Deleting a single file

Follow these steps to delete a single file from the file storage.

  1. Locate the raw data file that you want to delete.

  2. Select the Delete file icon in the actions column for the file.

    A confirmation message is displayed.

  3. Select Delete to delete the file.

The raw data file is no longer available in the data storage.

Note:

You need to perform a data run after deleting a file.

Deleting all the files for a table

Follow these steps to download all the files listed for a table.

  1. Select the Delete button in the header bar of the Manage file storage page.

    A confirmation message is displayed.

  2. Select Delete to delete the file.

All the raw data files for the table are deleted from the file storage.
