Defect synchronization
Defect synchronization between Test Manager and external ALM tools for keeping your issue tracking system up to date with test execution outcomes.
You can synchronize execution results with external tools, as part of the Application Lifecycle Management tool integration. Information that is gathered during execution, such as results, logs, timestamps, and other details is synchronized with the tool that you have integrated with Test Manager.
Context
Only one connection can be enabled for defect synchronization per project.
Prerequisites
- You have configured a connector in Test Manager. See the available connections in Test Manager.
- You have executed a test set first.
- Your user role is any role aside from Read-only. For more information, see Tenant roles and Project roles.
Creating a defect
You can create defects when you access test case logs in the Execution page.
Steps
-
Navigate to Execution.
-
Open a test result and then select the test case key to open the logs.
-
Select Tasks and select Create Defect.
Figure 1. The Tasks dropdown list displaying the Create Defect action
Result
The defect is created in the integrated external tool (for example, Atlassian Jira) and linked to the test execution result. You can open the defect directly in the external tool by navigating to the test execution result.
Unlinking a defect
When you unlink defects from an external tool, the entry created in the tool remains unchanged. In Test Manager, the test execution result is not linked with an external tool.
Steps
- Navigate to Execution.
- Open a test result and then select Tasks.
- Select Unlink Defect.
Result
The test execution result is no longer linked to the defect in the external tool.
