About the Desktop Triggers activity package

The UiPath.DesktopTriggers.Activities pack allows you to automatically respond to specific performance events that occur on your local machine. Thus, it removes the need to monitor these events yourself and act upon them.

Use the Performance Trigger activity to monitor resource consumption on your machine and to handle performance issues when they occur. You can prompt the end user to close resource-intensive applications and even create a report to proactively improve machine performance.

Use the Idle Trigger activity to run activities after your workstation enters idle mode. Set a minimum idle duration of five seconds and then design the workflow to perform several operations while your device remains inactive.

Performance monitor types

The Performance Trigger activity monitors three types of resources:

  • CPU
  • Memory
  • Disk
  • Network

Key features

Find below some of the key features of Desktop Triggers activities:

  • Monitors resource consumption for the entire operating system or for a single process.
  • Sets thresholds and durations, therefore the trigger executes when the threshold is exceeded for a given amount of time. For example, if you set the threshold for CPU usage at 40% and the duration at 3 seconds, the trigger executes when CPU exceeds 40% for more than 3 seconds.
  • Has the option to monitor child processes or processes with privileged access.
  • Returns information about a performance trigger event in a JSON string.

Limitations

  • The activities in the pack work only for automations built on Windows OS, that is why you must select Windows as the Compatibility for every new project in Studio.
  • You cannot monitor disk consumption for privileged processes, despite selecting the Include privileged processes checkbox.
