Customizing dashboards

Important: To customize your dashboards, you need the Insights Designer role. Read more about adding Designer users in Insights.

Build dashboards your way with drag-and-drop tiles, saved filters, and reusable layouts, with no code required. A pencil icon appears next to the Monitoring dashboard if you have the Insights Designer license. Select Edit to switch the dashboard to design mode.

What you can do in design mode

Change the layout and format

  • Split the layout to place widgets side by side.

  • Resize widgets by dragging their edges to adjust their width or height.
  • Reorder widgets anywhere on the canvas using drag and drop.

Change the widget type

Switch the visualization, for example, from a table chart to a line chart. The available types depend on the data.

Edit content

  • Rename a widget to match your terminology.
  • Change fields (dimensions) by selecting Process Runs, Element Runs, or Incidents for grouping or bucketing.
  • Change metrics by selecting what the widget summarizes, for example, Completed instances.

Read and build metrics (custom KPIs)

  • Review the metrics currently used across the dashboard in the Metrics panel.

  • Create custom metrics from the Maestro data model (Process Runs, Element Runs, Incidents) or from your custom variables. This lets you define your own monitoring KPIs with aggregations, filters, and expressions.

  • Use your custom metrics in any existing or new visualization on the Monitoring tab.
Important: Dashboard edits are tenant-wide. When you save your edits, the layout, widget types, and metrics apply to all users who open the Monitoring tab for that process.
