Task Mining
Traces
linkAdding a new trace to a project can be done in multiple ways as listed:
- Start a recording
- Ask a colleague to record trace
- Build diagram
Build diagram
linkA new trace can be created manually by creating a diagram from scratch using Build diagram.
- In the diagram window, select + Add trace.
- From the drop-down list, select Build diagram.
- A new trace is created, and you can manually add a step, decision point, or link a step to an existing step.
Start a recording
linkBy starting a recording to add a new trace, the Task Mining recorder opens up, and you can start recording your new trace.
Refer to Capturing a trace for more information on start capturing and Audio capture.
- In the diagram window, select + Add trace.
- From the drop-down list, select Start recording.
- Task Mining client opens up, and you can start recording your process.
- After finishing the recording, a new trace is available in your project.
Excel in traces
linkWith the unified recorder, you can populate information or insight into how you are completing actions within Excel. This way you gain insight on exactly where is it possible to automate within Excel actions.
In the visualizer, you can now have data for workbook titles where actions were performed. This helps you in having the workbook name clearly populated in your trace.
The most common scenarios of copying and pasting through clipboard are the following:

Copy and paste within sheet to move data around.

Copy and paste within workbook across sheets to move data around.

Copy data into excel from another application.

Copy date from excel into another application.
