Task Mining
Process description document (Microsoft Word format)

, in order to document the process that performs the task, take the following steps:
- Access Download and select Process description document (.docx) from the menu.
- If applicable, select a template from the list of available templates.
- Optionally, adapt the image properties to resize the images.
- Select Export.

to your computer.
By default, the UiPath basic template is used as the Word template for the Process description document (.docx). If any custom templates are available, you can set a different template as the default template. The Process description document (.docx), and the Standard operating procedure (.docx) use the default template for export.
To set a template as the default template, take the following steps:
- Locate the template you want to set as the default template.
- Select the menu icon to open the action menu for the template, and select Set as default template.
- Select For this project, if you want to use the template as default template for the current project. Select For whole tenant, if you want to set the template as the default template for all projects.
- Locate the template you want to download as a template file.

Select the menu icon to open the action menu for the template, and select Download.
- Locate the template for which you want to view file information.
- Select the menu icon to open the action menu for the template, and select File info. A popup displays, showing the following metadata properties of the template.
- Author - the name of the template author.
- Date added - the date at which the template was added.
- Times used - the number of times the template is used to download a Process description document (.docx).
- Description - a description of the template, if available.
- Select Cancel to close the popup.
Depending on your role, you can add a template for downloading Process description documents and Standard operating procedures.
To upload a new template, take the following steps:
- Select Add Template. The Add
template popup is displayed.
Important: Always make sure the structure of the Word template is correct. We recommend you include the following placeholders in the template to ensure that all the data you documented displays properly in the Process definition document export file:
- {title}
- {description}
- {author}
- {email}
- {execution_time}
- {total_applications_count}
- {total_actions_count}
- {total_clicks}
- {total_keys_pressed}
- {total_text_entries}
- {total_hotkeys}

- Select Select file.

Select the file you want to upload as a template from your computer, and select Open.
An overview of the required placeholders displays, indicating the status for each placeholder.
- Make sure the document structure is correct, and select Continue.
- Enter a meaningful name for the template in the Template name field, and optionally, a description in the Template description field.
- Select Finish. The template is uploaded and added to the list of templates.
- If applicable, set the template as default template for the current project.
Error code | Description | Possible solution |
TCW0088 | The .docx file used as a template for exporting the trace exceeds the maximum allowed file size of 5MB.
| Reduce the file size of the template file. For example:

TCW0089 | The .docx file used as a template for exporting the trace is not in a valid .docx file format either due to corruption or an incorrect file format.
|
|
TCW0090 | The .docx file used as a template for exporting the trace has an invalid structure.
| Ensure that the structure of the Word template is correct and include the recommended placeholders to ensure that all the data you documented is displayed properly in the PDD export file. |
If you are a Tenant Administrator, a service-level Task Mining Administrator, or Project Administrators, you can manage templates for Process description document downloads.
- Locate the template you want to set as the default template.
- Select the menu icon to open the action menu for the template and select Set as default template.
- Select For this project, if you want to use the template as default template for the current project. Select For whole tenant, if you want to set the template as the default template for all projects.
- Locate the template you want to download as a template file.
- Select the menu icon to open the action menu for the template and select Download.
- The template file is downloaded to your computer and a notification message is displayed.
- Locate the template for which you want to view file information.
- Select the menu icon to open the action menu for the template and select File info. A popup is displayed, showing metadata properties of the template.
- Author - the name of the author of the template.

- Times used - the number of times the template is used to download a Process description document (.docx).
- Description - a description of the template, if available.
- Select Cancel to close the popup.

Important: Make sure your template file includes placeholders to display all documented data in the exported file.
- Select Select file.
