July 2026 release notes for Document Understanding in Automation Cloud.

App Tasks: Create artifacts for extraction validation (preview)
Document Understanding now supports a decoupled validation flow for document processing pipelines. When you use the new artifacts APIs, you prepare extraction validation artifacts stored in Orchestrator Storage Buckets. Then, your application uses those artifacts to create a UiPath App Task for human validation.
This process gives you control over when, where, and with what user interface the task is created. For details, refer to Create artifacts for extraction validation.

Pricing update
Added July 10, 2026: The pricing updates also apply to Unified Pricing. These were released on July 8, but were not included in the release notes at the time.
AI Unit and Platform Unit consumption for Document Understanding is now charged per operation, instead of a flat rate per page. Digitization is free, classification and extraction are charged individually, and the total consumption is 1 AI Unit per page on the Flex Plan, or 0.2 Platform Units per page on Unified Pricing. Document Understanding and Intelligent Xtraction and Processing (IXP) licenses can be used together, with no additional cost per page.
