Insert Image Workbook

Properties and configuration for the Insert Image Workbook activity, which inserts an image into an Excel workbook at a specified cell anchor with optional pixel offset and scaling.

UiPath.Excel.Activities.InsertImage

Description

Inserts an image into a workbook sheet, anchored at a cell. The top-left corner of the image is placed at the anchor cell, offset by the values you set in Image left and Image top.

Note:

The only supported Workbook format is .xlsx.

The following image formats are supported:

  • PNG
  • JPEG
  • GIF
  • BMP
  • TIFF
  • WebP
  • PCX

Project compatibility

Windows | Cross-platform

Configuration

  • File - The full path of the resource workbook. To switch to a local path, select the plus icon, and then Use Local File. The current field changes to File (local path), where you can provide the full path of the workbook.
  • Image file - The resource file of the image to insert. To switch to a local path, select the plus icon, and then Use Local File. The current field changes to Image (local path), where you can provide the full path of the image.
  • SheetName - The sheet to insert the image into. If the sheet does not exist, it is created automatically. The default value is Sheet1.
  • Cell - The anchor cell for the top-left corner of the image. The default value is A1.

Use Workbook

  • Workbook - The existing workbook to use.

Input

  • Image left - The horizontal offset from the anchor cell, in pixels. The value must be 0 or greater. The default value is 0.
  • Image top - The vertical offset from the anchor cell, in pixels. The value must be 0 or greater. The default value is 0.
  • Image width - The width of the image, in pixels. The value must be 0 or greater.
  • Image height - The height of the image, in pixels. The value must be 0 or greater.

The Image width and Image height values determine how the image is scaled:

Image widthImage heightResult
Not setNot setThe image keeps its original dimensions.
SetNot setThe height scales proportionally, preserving the aspect ratio.
Not setSetThe width scales proportionally, preserving the aspect ratio.
SetSetThe image uses the exact dimensions you set. The aspect ratio is not preserved.
Note:

The image is anchored to the cell that you specify in Cell, which limits how you can position it:

  • Image left and Image top are capped at the width and height of the anchor cell, so an offset larger than the cell places the image at the cell's edge instead.
  • If you resize the anchor cell, the image moves with it, but keeps its own dimensions.

The activity does not support anchoring an image between two cells, or placing an image at a fixed position that is independent of any cell.
