Auto Fill
Fills cells with data based on data in other cells using the AutoFill feature in Excel. Similar to double-clicking the Fill Handle in Excel to copy the formula from one or more adjacent cells down to the cells in the rows with data. The activity can be used with an Excel file selected for a parent Use Excel File activity or with the Project Notebook.
Configuring the activity
In the body of the activity
- Select source - Click Plus on the right side of the field and then, from the menu, select Indicate in Excel to open the file and select one or more adjacent cells directly from the file. Alternatively, you can select Custom Input to enter the range manually, or Open in Advanced Editor to enter a VB expression.
If the source is in a table and empty cells followed by cells with data are encountered, auto filling does not stop at the first cell with data. For example, if range A1:B6 is formatted as a table, cells A3:A5 are empty, and cell A6 contains data, selecting A2 as the source fills cells A3:A6, overwriting cell A6.
