What's new
For improved user experience, we included a tooltip in the Fields tab of the Document Type Manager and the Annotation menu which provides guidance on the importance of using appropriate terminology when configuring Field names.
This tooltip is only displayed when the UiPath Helix Extractor models are used. As of now, the UiPath Helix Extractor is only available for US-based tenants.
Erratum - added January 16, 2025: As part of our ongoing product evolution and portfolio alignment, we have updated the product name to UiPath Helix Extractor. All references in this document reflect this change.

Document Understanding Process template for modern projects
Kick-start your modern projects using the 24.10.1 version of the Document Understanding Process template, now available in the Official feed of Studio Desktop. This updated template offers two compatibility types, each operating with their own distinct framework:
- Windows: Uses the Document Understanding Project Extractor and Document Understanding Project Classifier activities from the IntelligentOCR package, both designed to work with modern projects.
- Cross-platform: Uses the Classify Document and Extract Document Data activities from the DocumentUnderstanding package, both designed to work with modern projects.

New roles and permissions
This release introduces a new role, Document Understanding Data Annotator. Designed specifically for document annotation, users assigned with this role cannot delete documents in order to maintain a secure data management process.
We have also enabled a new permission, Documents.Delete. Users granted this permission can delete documents. The roles with this permission include:
- Document Understanding Administrator
- Document Understanding Developer
- Document Understanding Model Trainer

Document Understanding Process updates
The 24.10.1 version of the Document Understanding Process template brings the following updates:
- The template is now available in the Official feed of Studio Desktop.
- The improved template now supports the Windows compatibility type for both modern and classic projects.
- We have made refinements to the
AutocorrectOcrMistakesSuccess.xamlfile, part of the Tests section of the template.

Bug fixes
We have fixed an issue in Validation Station that was preventing the proper addition of new rows to tables when on a page other than the first.
