SAP BAPI authentication

Connect UiPath to SAP BAPI by providing hostname, client, instance number, username, and password for the SAP application server.

Prerequisites

To create a connection, you need the following credentials:

  • Hostname – The hostname of the SAP application server.
  • Client – The client in the SAP system into which to log in.
  • Instance number – The SAP system's instance or system number.
  • Username.
  • Password.

The connection credentials are available in your SAP Logon:

  • Group/Server field represents your Hostname.
  • Instance No. represents your instance number.
  • SID represents your username.
  • SID Password represents your password.
  • Select Logon to identify the Client.

Important:

If you use a Standard connection and your SAP system is hosted within your private network, you must set up an IP addresses allowlist in your firewall settings to enable network traffic. Because the IP range migration is ongoing, see the deprecation notice at the beginning of the legacy page for more information.

Important:

When establishing a connection through the SAP BAPI connector in Integration Service, the system calls the BAPI_MONITOR_GETLIST function to retrieve the list of available BAPIs from the target SAP system. This step ensures the required BAPIs are present and accessible. The response should include a table, typically named BAPILIST, which lists the available operations. Successfully retrieving this list confirms that the necessary permissions are in place and allows Integration Service to complete the connection setup.

Add the SAP BAPI connection

  1. Select Orchestrator from the product launcher.

  2. Select a folder, and then navigate to the Connections tab.

  3. Select Add connection.

  4. To open the connection creation page, select the connector from the list. You can use the search bar to find the connector.

  5. Enter the required credentials and select Connect.

Where available, select the menu next to a field and choose Use credential asset or Use Orchestrator asset to reference an Orchestrator asset instead of entering the value directly. For more information, see Use credential assets for connections.

Connect through Private (Relay)

If your SAP system is hosted in a private network, you can route the connection through Relay instead of exposing the endpoint to the public internet.

  1. Ask your administrator to configure Relay in UiPath Administration. Because the SAP BAPI connector uses SAP RFC over TCP rather than HTTP, the Relay client must be version 26.4.3 or later with the on-prem executor enabled, and you must supply the SAP JCo 3 libraries. For setup instructions, see Supported TCP-based connections in the Automation Cloud admin guide.
  2. When you create the connection, expand Advanced settings and select the Private (Relay) connection type.
  3. Enter the same credentials as for a standard connection (hostname, client, instance number, username, and password), and then select Connect.
Note:

No additional Relay fields are shown when you select Private (Relay). Unlike HTTP-based connectors, the SAP BAPI connector has no base URL or authorization URLs to override — Integration Service derives the relay URL from the hostname and instance number you provide.
