Test Manager user guide
Last updated Oct 21, 2025
You can migrate Test Manager artifacts, such as test cases, test sets, and results, from a Test Manager instance to another. This applies if you migrate from a standalone instance of Test Manager to a platform-based version of Test Manager.
Note: This procedure covers only the migration of Test Manager artifacts and does not include
platform configuration, user permissions, or integration settings.

The following artifacts are included in the migration:
- Projects
 - Requirements
 - Test cases
 - Test sets
 - Test results
 - Attachments
 - Custom field values
Note: Even though custom field values are migrated, you must manually recreate custom field definitions in the target project.

- Ensure the Test Manager instance you are migrating from is updated to the latest version.
 - Verify that the Test Manager service is enabled on the target tenant.

- For each project you want to
                  migrate:

- Open the Test Manager landing page on the source instance.
 - From the overflow menu on the tile of the project you want to migrate, select Export Project.
 - Wait for the TMH export file to become available for download, and then download it on your local machine.

Repeat this step for every project you intend to migrate.
 - Open a browser and navigate to the Test Manager tenant on the target platform.
 - Ensure you have selected the correct tenant for import.
 - For each TMH file:

- Go to the Test Manager landing page.
 - Select Import Project.
 - In the Import
                           Project dialog:

- Upload the TMH file.
 - Whether you want
to import into a new project or an existing one, perform one of
                              these steps:

- For a new project, provide a project name and a unique prefix.
 - For an existing project, select Existing project under Target, and then select the existing project from the Project dropdown list.

 - Ensure the Include automation information for test cases option is selected, if needed.

 - Select Import.

The import process runs in the background. Once started, a project tile appears on the landing page, You can open the project after the import completes.
