Core concepts
The following table defines the core terms used throughout this guide.
| Term | Description |
|---|---|
| Sessions | A continuous conversation with Delegate where you make requests and it performs actions. Sessions persist across app restarts and can be resumed later. |
| Screen context | Whether Delegate can see a screenshot of your screen with each message. Controlled by the Screen Context toggle at the bottom of the Delegate window. See Screen context in Local security configuration. |
| Skills | Pre-built capabilities that teach Delegate how to work with specific applications or perform common tasks. Installed from a feed, see Sharing skills with your team, or created by your organization. |
| Routines | Saved workflows that you can run with a single click. A Routine captures a pattern of work you do repeatedly. See Repeating work with Routines. |
| Execution mode | Whether Delegate takes over your screen to act — Autonomous, Guided, or Offscreen (without touching your screen). See Execution mode in Local security configuration. |
| Connections | Secure links to your business applications through Integration Service connectors or MCP servers. See Working with external data and applications. |
| Tools | The specific capabilities Delegate can use — UI automation, web search, file operations, image generation, and more. Enable or disable a tool from Tools reference; set Allow/Ask/Block permissions per operation in Settings → Security. |
| Work profile | The role-specific configuration your organization enables for your account, such as Cartographer, distinct from the general-purpose default. See Profiles in the Introduction. |
