uip skills
Syntax and options for `uip skills`, which installs, updates, and removes UiPath coding-agent skill packs.
uip skills installs, updates, and removes UiPath skills for supported AI coding agents. Skills are curated prompt packs that teach an agent how to use UiPath's CLI tools to build automations, agents, flows, and orchestrations. See Skills for the concept, install model, and the agent-by-agent install locations.
This page documents the commands. For what skills are and why to install them, read the concept page first.

All uip skills subcommands honor the global options (--output, --output-filter, --log-level, --log-file). Exit codes follow the standard contract.
Supported agents: claude, cursor, copilot, codex, opencode, autopilot, kiro, windsurf, antigravity, devin. Some agents have only a global install path; others support both local (per-project) and global. Run uip skills --help for the per-agent destination table generated from the live registry.
uip skills list
List the skills available from the configured catalog (the UiPath skills repository by default, or another one via --repo). Read-only — does not install anything or touch an agent's configuration.
Arguments
None.
Options
--local— Read the current project's local skills store instead of the global one.--repo <url>— List skills from another repo instead: a GitHubowner/repo, anhttps/gitURL, or a local directory such as./skills. Defaults to the UiPath skills repository.--branch <name>— Branch to fetch from--repo. Accepted only together with a git--repo; rejected without--repoor with a local directory.
Example

Shadowed lists skills that were dropped during discovery because another skill in the same source used the same name — visible here instead of silently disappearing.
uip skills search
Search the skill catalog by goal or keyword and return the closest matches. Read-only.
Arguments
| Name | Required | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
<query> | yes | Free-text search query. |
Options

Arguments

|---|---|---|
<name> | yes | Skill name, from list or search. Matched case-insensitively. |
Options

An unknown name fails with ValidationError, pointing at list/search to find a valid one.

uip skills install
Download UiPath skills from the @uipath/skills npm package on the configured npm registry and install them into the selected agent's configuration. Writes to the user's home directory by default; pass --local to install under the current project instead. Pass --repo to install from another GitHub/git repository or a local directory instead of the UiPath skills repository.
Arguments
None.
Options
--agent <agent>— Target a single agent (claude,cursor,copilot,codex,opencode,autopilot,kiro,windsurf,antigravity,devin). Without it, the CLI detects the supported agents installed on the machine and installs for all of them. When no agent is detected, the CLI opens a checkbox picker in an interactive terminal, and fails withconfiguration_errorotherwise. Pass the global--interactiveflag without--agentto always open the picker, with detected agents pre-selected. Agents not supported for the current scope are hidden from the picker.--skip-if-no-agent— Exit successfully (no error,Installed: 0) instead of prompting or failing when no supported agent is detected on the machine.--local— Install to the current project directory instead of the user home. Rejected for agents that only support a global path when installing the UiPath skills; a custom--reposource can be installed locally for any agent.--path <dir>— Install into a specific project directory. Implies--local.--repo <url>— Install from another skills repo: a GitHubowner/repo, anhttps/gitURL, or a local directory such as./skills. Defaults to the UiPath skills repository.--branch <name>— Branch to fetch from--repo. Defaults to that repo's default branch. Accepted only together with a git--repo.--force— Reinstall from a clean state. Resets the Claude Code marketplace registration and plugin cache before reinstalling; other agents are overwritten on every install, so the flag does not change their behavior.
Examples
# Install for Claude Code (global)
uip skills install --agent claude
# Install for Cursor, scoped to the current project
uip skills install --agent cursor --local
# Install from another repo for Cursor
uip skills install --repo my-org/my-skills --agent cursor
# Install into a specific project directory (implies --local)
uip skills install --agent autopilot --path ./my-project --repo mattpocock/skills
# Interactive picker

}
RootDir— base directory the skills were written under (user home for global, project directory for--local/--path).Skills— slugs of the skills fetched from the configured source.Agents— agents targeted in this run.Installed— number of (agent, skill) pairs successfully installed.Shadowed(when non-empty) — same-named skills dropped during discovery, as{Name, IgnoredPath}.Conflicts(when non-empty) — skills skipped per agent because another source already installed a skill of that name there, as{Agent, Name, OwnedBy}.
When --skip-if-no-agent triggers, the response instead reports Skipped: true with a Reason and Message, and Skills/Agents empty.
--agent autopilot installs more than skills. Autopilot mirrors Claude Code's on-disk layout, so its install also copies the catalog's hooks/ folder as a sibling of skills/ (e.g. ~/.autopilot/hooks/). Every other supported agent installs skills/ only. This isn't reflected in the Skills/Installed fields above — those count skills, not the extra folder.
--agent opencode also writes slash-command files. OpenCode loads skills only through its skill tool, so the install writes one <skill>.md command file for every skill marked as user-invocable. The files go to ~/.config/opencode/commands/ for a global install, or .opencode/commands/ under the project with --local. A reinstall never overwrites a command file you wrote, and uninstall removes only the files the CLI wrote.
Prerequisites
Network access to the npm registry configured for the @uipath scope. A --repo git source also needs git; when a GitHub clone fails, the CLI falls back to a zip download, which uses PowerShell on Windows and unzip on macOS/Linux. A local-directory --repo is copied from disk. If a prerequisite is missing, the command fails with a Failure result pointing at it.
uip skills update
Re-fetch skills and re-install the latest patch on the target version line: the core.version pin when one is set, otherwise the running CLI's version line. After installing the fresh set, the CLI prunes any skills that are not in the registry — so update also cleans up deprecated skills on disk.
Arguments
None.
Options
--agent <agent>— Seeinstall.--local— Update in the current project instead of the user home. Without--local,updatetargets the global install.--path <dir>— Update skills in a specific project directory. Implies--local.--repo <url>— Update skills previously installed from another repo. Defaults to the UiPath skills repository.--branch <name>— Branch to fetch from--repo.--force— Seeinstall.
Example
uip skills update --agent claude
uip skills update --agent claude
Data shape (--output json)
{
"Code": "SkillsUpdate",

"Data": {
"RootDir": "/Users/alice",
"Skills": ["uipath-agents", "uipath-rpa"],
"Agents": ["claude"],
"Updated": 2
}
}
Updated is the number of (agent, skill) pairs re-installed; stale entries are removed separately and silently.
uip skills uninstall
Remove previously installed skills from an agent's configuration and update the local manifest. uninstall does not perform any network calls — it relies on the manifest written by install / update to know which skills exist.
Arguments
None.
Options
--agent <agent>— Seeinstall. Without it, the CLI prompts interactively. Passing an unknown agent fails withValidationError.--local— Remove from the current project instead of the user home.--path <dir>— Remove from a specific project directory. Implies--local.--repo <url>— Remove skills previously installed from another repo. Defaults to the UiPath skills repository.--branch <name>— Branch that was used with--repo.
Example

Failure modes
- No manifest found (nothing ever installed, or it was deleted manually):
ConfigErrorwith instructions to runuip skills install. - Write permissions on the agent's configuration directory:
Failurewith a file-permissions hint. The CLI exits with code 1. - User cancels the interactive agent picker: the CLI exits with code 130 (SIGINT), per the standard contract.
