Licensing

This page provides information about Test Cloud licensing.

Licensing plan framework

If you purchased a Trial or Enterprise plan, you can opt for Test Cloud.

Trial

A plan intended solely for internal non-production purposes, while fully complying with the Acceptable Use Policy outlined in our Terms of Use. It is available free of charge for a limited amount of time.

With a Trial plan, you can try the extended platform capabilities that come with a paid plan. The evaluation period is limited to 60 days.

Enterprise

The Enterprise plan is a yearly plan which includes custom license types and license counts, tailored to your specific needs with help from our Sales team. To get started, you must contact Sales.

You can purchase as many licenses of each type as you want, and you gain access to the full stack of premium plan perks that are included with this plan.

You can also purchase products in bundles, called Platform SKUs. These are currently available under the form of two tiers, namely Standard and Advanced. The capabilites included in each tier differ, and are detailed on the UiPath Licensing page.

License types

To access and work with Test Cloud, you need the following license types:

  • User licenses: The user licenses which offer access to Test Cloud are:
    • App Tester - Named User: Allows you to manage and execute tests, as well as handle other automated processes that enable you to perform application testing.
    • App Test Developer - Named User: Allows you to manage and execute tests, as well as handle other automated processes that enable you to perform application testing. Additionally, App Test Developers can create test automations in Studio, and build Apps.
  • Service license: App Testing Robot runtimes: Allows you to execute automations in Test Cloud.

User licenses

The user licenses that offer access to Test Cloud are:
  • App Tester User - Named User
  • App Test Developer - Named User
Important: The licenses associated with Test Cloud (App Tester User - Named User and App Test Developer - Named User) grant access to all the products available within Test Cloud. No additional user licenses, beyond the App Tester User or App Test Developer, are needed for accessing the products within Test Cloud.

The operations that a user can perform in Test Cloud are determined by the type of user license they hold. The following table describes the differences between the two types of Test Cloud user licenses, App Tester User - Named User and App Test Developer - Named User, and the range of operations that can be performed under each license.

Note: All capabilities listed in the following table are permitted, according to the roles and permissions within a particular product.

Service licenses

The service license that enables you to work with Test Cloud is the App Testing robot runtime. App Testing robot is a dedicated runtime license that enables you to run your application testing automations within Test Cloud.

App Testing robots enable you to run your application testing automations within Test Cloud, as well as RPA processes for non-production environments only. App Testing robots have the following capabilities:
  • Run unattended executions of test automation packages (automated test cases), published from Studio projects of type Test Automation.
  • Run unattended executions of non-production processes, published from Studio projects of type Process.

For more information on starting to use App Testing robots for running your test automations, refer to Managing machines.

Getting started with Test Cloud licenses

To get started with using Test Cloud, you must meet the following licensing conditions:

  • Have a Test Cloud-specific user license assigned: App Tester User or App Test Developer.

These Named User licenses offer you access to the services surfaced through Test Cloud.

  • Have App Testing robot runtimes assigned to the tenant where you want to perform application testing.

This runtime enables you to perform test executions.
